Congratulations, Augusta Saraiva and Keyla Carvalho!

Professor Ana Thome Williams' advisees Augusta Saraiva and Keyla Carvalho won 1st place in the Arts & Humanities category of the morning poster presentation session of the Undergraduate Research Expo 2019.
Their research "Spanish Speakers' Perceptions and Performance When Learning Portuguese" investigated the impact of learners' perceptions of their Spanish language knowledge and linguistic background in the process of learning Portuguese.
Last year, they also won 1st place in their poster presentation. Their present research is a continuation of last year's study when they investigated the negotiation of meaning in interactions between Portuguese language students and native speakers of Portuguese.
