The Department of Spanish & Portuguese is happy to announce that graduate student, Walther Maradiegue, has received a fellowship from the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research to support his dissertation research, titled “Geographies of Indigeneity in the Andes.” It inspects how late 19th-century and early 20th-century cultural production -from Indigenous and non-Indigenous sources- have shaped perceptions and understandings of the natural, racial and cultural landscapes of the northern Peruvian Andes. Congratulations, Walther!
