Classes meet synchronously via Zoom, creating a semi-immersion environment where you can truly focus on improving your language skills. Please, check the prerequisites before enrolling in a course.
PLEASE NOTE: The registration period for ALL summer courses is April 11, 2022 through June 20, 2022, even if the course begins later in the summer.

PORTUGUESE 101-1 : Elementary Portuguese
Introduction to grammar and development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Brazilian Portuguese, as well as the history and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.
PORTUGUESE 101-2 : Elementary Portuguese
Introduction to grammar and development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Brazilian Portuguese, as well as the history and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.
Prerequisite for 101-2: 101-1 or sufficient score on placement test.
PORTUGUESE 101-3 : Elementary Portuguese
Introduction to grammar and development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Brazilian Portuguese, as well as the history and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.
Prerequisite for 101-3: 101-2 or sufficient score on placement test.
SPANISH 101-1 : Elementary Spanish
Communicative method. Development of speaking, listening, conversation, and grammar skills, as well as knowledge of Hispanic culture, through context. Five class meetings a week.
Prerequisite: For students who have studied Spanish less than two years.

SPANISH 121-1 : Intermediate Spanish
Communicative method. Further development of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and writing skills through emphasis on cultural content and functional use of Spanish language. Five class meetings a week.

SPANISH 121-2 : Intermediate Spanish
Communicative method. Further development of grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and writing skills through emphasis on cultural content and functional use of Spanish language. Five class meetings a week.

SPANISH 201-0 : Advanced Spanish I: Current Topics Through Media
This course is designed to develop all communication modes in Spanish, as students progress towards the advanced-low level of proficiency. The interpretation and analysis of current topics and media in Spain and Latin America will serve as an entry point for students to explore how past events have shaped current circumstances of Spanish-speaking countries. Spanish 201 counts towards the minor/major in Spanish.
Prerequisite: SPANISH 121-3, SPANISH 125-0, SPANISH 199-0, AP4 (Spanish Language and Culture Exam), Departmental Placement (Online Placement Test and Reassessment).
SPANISH 204-0 : Advanced Spanish II: Artivism in Times of Political Change (Advanced Spanish II: Artivism in Times of Political Change)
This course is designed to develop all communication modes in Spanish, at the advanced-low level of proficiency, through the exploration, interpretation and analysis of multimodal texts centered around politically and socially engaged art. The course will explore the role that the creative arts played in the political and social sphere in 20th-century Spain and Latin America while connecting these movements to current times. Spanish 204 counts towards the minor/major in Spanish.
Prerequisite: SPANISH 197-0, SPANISH 201-0, SPANISH 203, AP5 (Spanish Language and Culture Exam), Departmental Placement (Online Placement Test and Reassessment).
